  • How can I view my policy online? ( Show Hide )

    You can view your key policy details, contacts, drivers, vehicles and trade plates online. Simply register and login.

    Simply complete the registration form online.

  • Why has my account been deactivated? ( Show Hide )

    If a user has not logged into their account in over 90 days. Your account will be deactivated for security reasons due to non-activity and you will receive an email to confirm.

  • I have forgotton my password? ( Show Hide )

    If you have previously registered and forgotton your password you can reset it here.

  • I need to update my policy ( Show Hide )

    If you have a Motor Trade policy, you can update your vehicles online. Please register, login and then click on "Add Vehicles".
    For all other policies, please contact your Broker.

  • How to reactivate my portal account? ( Show Hide )
    You can reactivate your portal account via the Portal:
    1. Enter your login credentials.
    2. Click on "Re-activate Account".
    3. Enter your password and click "Confirm".
    4. User is successfully logged into their account. The user will receive 2 emails to confirm the account has been re-activated and there has been portal activity on the user’s account.

    If a user cannot remember their password, they can select “Forgotten Password” located on the homepage.

    Your account requires an authorisation code that will be sent to an authenticator app , which will need to be installed on your smart phone. Please click on Help for further assistance.

Motor Insurance Policy Database (MIPD)

  • How to update the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    If you have a Tradex Motor Trade policy, you can update your policy vehicle list online, once accepted by underwriters Tradex will update the MIPD. Simply register online, or if already registered login.
    To update, click on "My Vehicles"

  • Can I update the MIPD by SMS? ( Show Hide )

    The new process can now be accessed on your smart phone, which also allows you to view your current vehicle list, simply log on to the customer portal using your smart phone. The SMS facility is no longer available.

  • What is the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    The MIPD is a central database which keeps a record of all insured vehicles in the UK. The data, which is kept may be used by Insurers, Police and DVLA for the purposes of Insurance/Law Enforcement.

    The purpose of the MIPD for Enforcement Agencies and the police is to tackle uninsured drivers on the road. If a vehicle is uninsured on a UK road, they have the power to remove this vehicle. To find out more details: www.mib.org.uk

  • How to view your vehicle list? ( Show Hide )

    To access, log into the Customer Portal and click on "My Vehicles" button on the dashboard. The vehicle list displays current vehicles only. If you wish to see a legacy list, please contact your Broker.

  • Who is responsible for updating the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    It is your responsibility to update your policy of all licenced vehicles and trade plates in your possession. Failure in doing so may result in your vehicle being clamped, seized or destroyed and other penalties being imposed

  • When do I need to update the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    You must advise us immediately of all vehicle updates to your policy to comply with the timescales and regulations provided by the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB). For further information on requirements and how to comply with the regulations set, please refer to the Motor Insurance Policy Database Disclosure and Important Information sections in your policy booklet.

  • What vehicles should go on the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    Vehicles which you are required to disclose to us
    - Any vehicle which is owned/registered to you for the purposes of your Business or Pleasure.
    - All stock vehicles which have been taxed and are in your possession.
    - Courtesy Vehicles.
    - Any Trade Plate.

Motor Insurance Policy Database (MIPD) FAQ'S

  • Do I need to remove vehicles from the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    If you have sold or returned a vehicle(s) to a hire company, you are required to remove these from the MIPD. Failing to remove vehicles from the MIPD may result in being contacted about an insurance claim when the vehicle is no longer in your possession or can help un-insured drivers from being undetected, due to the vehicle being listed under your policy.
    You can delete vehicles from your policy on the Customer Portal. To access click on "My Vehicles" button on the dashboard.

  • How do I check if my vehicle is showing on the MIPD? ( Show Hide )

    You can check a vehicle registration is showing on the MIPD by visiting check your vehicle.
    You can add and delete vehicles from your Motor Trade policy on the Customer Portal. To access click on “My Vehicles” button on the dashboard.

  • How do I correct vehicle details? ( Show Hide )

    If the information which you or your broker have provided is incorrect you can delete the incorrect vehicle and then add the vehicle back on with the correct details.
    To access click on "My Vehicles" button on the dashboard.
    Alternativley please contact your broker.

  • Do I need to update the MIPD if a vehicle is SORN? ( Show Hide )

    Untaxed own or stock vehicles which have been declared off the public road and are registered as SORN do not need to be added to the policy. However for insurance purposes and to fully protect yourself it is best practice to update your policy with all owned vehicles in your possession.

  • If my vehicle is not on the MIPD but I have a valid insurance policy/certificate will I be ok? ( Show Hide )

    If you own the vehicle and fail to update the policy you are at risk of the Insurer declining cover. Even with a valid certificate the police could still impound your vehicle if it is not showing on the Motor Insurance Policy Database.

  • If my vehicle gets impounded by the police for not being on the MIPD, how can I get it released? ( Show Hide )

    You will be able to get your vehicle released from the compound but this will be subject to police fees and confirmation of ownership of the vehicle prior to the seizure, valid driving licence and current insurance certificate.
    The police will contact the Insurer's to confirm the information supplied to them and will make the decision if they are satisifed with the information received in order for the vehicle to be released. Depending on the police officer they may request a letter from either the broker or insurer confirming the vehicle was covered prior to seizure.

  • If I add a vehicle to the MIPD will this affect my premium. ( Show Hide )

    Adding a vehicle to the policy may increase the premium that you pay. The amount charged will depend on various factors such as the ABI group of the vehicle, It’s gross vehicle weight value or use.
    Deleting a vehicle can result in a return premium being due to you. It is therefore vital that you tell us immediately when you sell a vehicle to ensure you are not paying premiums for vehicles you no longer own.
    We will also review your policy if the number of vehicles registered goes over and above the maximum number of vehicles that you have declared on the statement of fact when you took out your insurance with us.
