The MIPD is a central database which keeps a record of all insured vehicles in the UK. The data, which is kept may be used by Insurers, Police and DVLA for the purposes of
Insurance/Law Enforcement.
The purpose of the MIPD for Enforcement Agencies and the police is to tackle uninsured drivers on the road. If a vehicle is uninsured on a UK road, they have the power to remove this vehicle.
